The City’s commitment to development of a long-range economic plan supported the creation of, the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) in 1999.    The EDC focuses on the non-residential areas of the City of Frankenmuth and areas within the Urban Limit Line, a unique area defined by the Frankenmuth City Township Master Growth PlanThe EDC removes obstacles for businesses looking to invest in Frankenmuth.

 The mission of the EDC is to vigorously and aggressively identify any means of enhancing and expanding the Frankenmuth economic base including:

  • Finding and encouraging the development of industrial and commercial sites, utilizing any public and private funding opportunities;
  • Encouraging the retention, expansion and updating of all existing business entities; and
  • Facilitating a business-friendly environment on the local government and community scene.

The EDC has prioritized development of the Frankenmuth Business Park, re-development of the Frankenmuth Business Center located at 210 N. Franklin and community marketing as its primary goals.  The EDC has worked with private initiatives funding a Local Trade Area Market Study, funding a feasibility report for the Frankenmuth Recreation Center, completing site plans and related engineering  for the construction of needed infrastructure for the Business Park .  The EDC is primarily funded with money from the City of Frankenmuth.
