The City’s commitment to development of a long-range economic plan supported the creation of, the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) in 1999. The EDC focuses on the non-residential areas of the City of Frankenmuth and areas within the Urban Limit Line, a unique area defined by the Frankenmuth City Township Master Growth Plan. The EDC removes obstacles for businesses looking to invest in Frankenmuth. The mission of the EDC is to vigorously and aggressively identify any means of enhancing and expanding the Frankenmuth economic base including:
The EDC has prioritized development of the Frankenmuth Business Park, re-development of the Frankenmuth Business Center located at 210 N. Franklin and community marketing as its primary goals. The EDC has worked with private initiatives funding a Local Trade Area Market Study, funding a feasibility report for the Frankenmuth Recreation Center, completing site plans and related engineering for the construction of needed infrastructure for the Business Park .
